I...Had a Good Day

Odd that most of my vacation was full of bad days, and my first day at work was a good one.

Friday I had a nice chat with the boss about long term burnout, in which he reminded me that I was hired way back when because he was yelling at people all the time and he warned me then that working in publishing would leave me jaded.

He was right.

I was offered a sabbatical for six months, but I can't afford to do that. Instead, I opted to cut back on what basically amounts to overtime, trimming things down so I'm managing stuff and not doing everything. Next month, I'll start seeing money from the For-Pay Work of Doom, so hopefully that'll balance out. We're going to see if I'm in a better place by the end of the year.

I...already am.

Really, I had a great day. I think I determined the source of a good half of my stress. With that cut out, I kind of had fun. Nothing but my inbox was in disarray upon my return today (still sorting through that), got lots of shit done, exchanged pleasant emails with coworkers.

It was kinda awesome.

It might be a manic episode, but you know what? I'll fucking TAKE IT.

So anyway, sometime next week (I was aiming for Aug 1, but I don't want to rush it--might be the week after), I'm going to release 9 Crimes. This is a Nate POV novella.

I'm also including a short called Aftermath that covers the day directly after the final chapter (not epilogue) in Exhumed, Nate POV as well. Um...spoilers aplenty, obviously.

I'd be happy to add a little more to it as well, so I'm asking YOU: are there any particular series scenes you'd like to see from his point of view? Things where you want to know what he was thinking? Events that occurred when Zara wasn't there? I can't guarantee I'll write them, but if you shoot me some ideas, I'll give it a shot. Feel free to leave a comment or drop me an email/tweet/etc.
